A contract fragrance manufacturer should be evaluated by the evidence behind its process: what it controls in-house, how it approves materials, and how it connects your specification to the finished batch.
State whether you need formula development, component sourcing, liquid compounding, filling, assembly or a complete ODM service. A capable filler may not be the right partner for custom bottle engineering, while a sourcing company may outsource the production step you expected it to control.
Review how fragrance references, component revisions and artwork are approved. Ask what is checked at incoming inspection, during filling and before release. A useful answer names records, samples and acceptance criteria—not only “strict QC.”
Send the same RFQ to shortlisted manufacturers. Compare the questions they ask, exclusions they disclose and risks they identify. Clear discussion of MOQ, unconfirmed lead time or transport limitations is more trustworthy than an immediate promise covering every requirement.
Finally, confirm confidentiality, change control, payment milestones, defect handling and repeat-order records in writing. The best supplier is the one that can repeat the approved product, not merely produce an attractive first sample.
