How to Give Useful Feedback on Perfume Samples

Good perfume sample feedback tells the perfumer where the fragrance departs from the brief and what must not be lost during revision.

Evaluate coded samples at consistent intervals. Separate opening, heart and dry-down comments. Instead of “not luxurious,” write what you perceive: too sharp in the first ten minutes, sweetness hides the floral center, or the woody dry-down should be drier.

Consolidate before replying

Collect internal reactions, then appoint one decision-maker to resolve contradictions. Rank changes and avoid adding new references every round. Confirm the sample code, intended concentration and product format.

A useful revision request might say: “Keep the soft musk dry-down; reduce the syrupy fruit in the opening and make the floral center clearer.” That protects the successful part while defining a testable change.
