What Affects Perfume Unit Cost? Seven Factory Variables

By AROMAMATRIX Project Team

Perfume unit cost changes when the formula, component specification, production quantity or included service changes. It should never be compared without those four references.

Fragrance dosage and material choice affect liquid cost. Glass weight, pump quality, cap construction and decoration often create a larger packaging spread. Carton structure, inserts, cellophane, assembly and inspection add further operations.

Quantity affects more than purchasing power

Setup cost is divided across more units, but component suppliers also have production minimums. A low filling quantity may leave surplus decorated bottles or printed boxes that still belong in the project cost.

Use landed cost

Add tooling, trials, freight, insurance, duties and destination fees. Compare sellable units after expected rejects, not only the nominal order. The right cost question is which specification delivers the required customer experience with acceptable repeat-order risk.
